Police Seek Answers to Fatal Fort Washington Wreck

Police don't know why vehicle suddenly lost control on Indian Head Highway.

The Prince George's County Police Department is asking anyone with information about a fatal car crash which happened on Sunday evening in Fort Washington to come forward.

The crash involved four vehicles and occurred at the intersection of Indian Head Highway and Livingston Road at about 4:15 p.m. on July 7.

According to police, a preliminary investigation shows that the driver of a Dodge Magnum, 26-year-old Accokeek resident Derico Lynch, was traveling southbound on Indian Head Highway when he suddenly lost control of his car and struck a Mercedes Benz. Lynch's Dodge then crossed the median and hit a motorcycle which was stopped at the northbound traffic light, then struck a Toyota truck before coming to a rest.

Police say that, right now, neitheir alcohol or excessive speed appear to have played a role in the crash.

Investigators are trying to determine why Lynch lost control of the car.

Anyone who may have seen the wreck play out, or who may have any information which could shed light on the crash, is asked to call the Prince George's County Police Department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit at 301-731-4422.
