PGCPS to Welcome 124,000 Students Back to School

School supplies can be picked up for free at the Back to School Fair.

More than 5,000 backpacks stuffed with notebooks, pencils and crayons are ready to be given away free of charge to Prince George’s County students at the third annual PGCPS Back to School Fair.

The Back to School Fair will take place Aug. 10 at the Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Birgitt Brevard, a community engagement and outreach specialist for PGCPS, said that the school supplies are collected year-round through partnerships with vendors and businesses.

“The best thing you can do at the beginning of the year is to supply a student with backpacks and supplies,” Brevard said.

Residents interested in receiving backpacks for their children must attend the Back to School Fair and visit their school’s booth.

Vendors will be selling school uniforms. There will also be food, entertainment and giveaways.
