After a Temple Hills-area girl scout troop suffered a robbery, local media reaches out to help them.
A DC media outlet is helping a local Girl Scouts troop raise the $10,000 they need to go to Disney World. The troop made up of just seven girls were selling girl scouts' cookies outside of a Waldorf restaurant Sunday when a man tried to rob them. After reporting the story about the Temple Hills-based troop's robbery earlier this week, WUSA9 is helping the girls on Friday morning raise the rest of the money needed for their trip. According to WUSA9, the girls and their troop leader Shelli Harris were selling cookies outside the Five Guys, when according to witnesses a man shoved Harris and tried to steal Troop 5819's donations. A taxi cab hit a 14-year-old, from the Temple Hills-area, Thursday night and did not stop, according to Prince George's police. At around 6:30 p.m. police said they responded to the 4700 block of Wheeler Road in Temple Hills and found the boy in the roadway. He was rushed to a local hospital and is in critical condition, police said. Officers found the cab at the Southern Avenue Metro Station with the help of a witness. The driver was placed in custody Thursday night and interviewed, according to Cpl. Larry Johnson, Prince George's police spokesman. Johnson said he did not know where the driver was from. Two women suffering from stab wounds were taken to a local hospital and later released, police said.
A teenager and a woman, both from Washington DC, were arrested in connection with stabbings that sent two people to the hospital and occurred around 1:45 a.m. Friday at the Hangar Club in Temple Hills, according to Prince George's police. Kailah Jameka Robinson, 19, of the 2300 block of Green Street in Southeast DC is charged with second degree assault and has admitted her involvement in the assault, according to police. Ebony Deana Jackson, 22, of the 200 block of 57th Place in Northeast DC, is charged with attempted murder and first degree assault, police said. US Park Police are hoping the public can help identify a suspect in a hit-and-run accident that occurred in Temple Hills more than two years ago. Sgt. Paul Brooks, with the US Park Police, said the department is trying to close the cold case and is hoping someone with information will come forward. The accident occured around 12:11 a.m. on Sept. 10 on westbound Suitland Parkway at Naylor Road, police reported. Ebony Tenise Johnson, 27, was struck and killed by a vehicle that did not stop when Johnson was trying to cross the intersection from the northwest corner of Naylor Road, police said.
