It may be spring, but it looks like winter still wanted to play.
We just got our first significant snowfall of the season and although it's spring, it means we get another chance for snowball fights and fun in the snow. Much of the region was blanketed Monday by heavy, wet snow.
Update, 12:51 p.m.: All after-school and evening activities at Prince George's County Public Schools have been canceled due to today's inclement weather. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm advisory for Upper Marlboro and much of the surrounding region, with accumulations of up to 4 inches or more expected on Wednesday. Precipitation is expected to begin as a mix of rain and snow, changing over to all snow Tuesday night. Wind gusts may reach up to 30 mph, according to the NWS. The service also warns of difficult driving conditions and is urging residents to begin proper winter storm preparations. The storm advisory is in effect Tuesday evening through early Thursday morning.

No major snow is predicted, but some cold and wet precipitation is predicted to fall in Prince George's County over the next two days.
While no major snow event is forecasted in Prince George’s County this week, there is some wintry weather in our future. According to the National Weather Service, rain mixed with snow and sleet is likely tonight, switching to all rain by 4 a.m. Lows of around 35 degrees are predicted and little to no accumulation is expected. Friday’s weather is predicted to be rainy and foggy, with highs around 45 degrees. The weather will turn cooler and breezy, with winds increasing to 20 to 25 mph after midnight. NWS gives a 30 percent chance of snow overnight, again with little to no accumulation.

The National Weather Service says there is an 80 percent chance of flakes after 3 p.m.
For the second time this week, the National Weather Service (NWS) is predicting snow for Prince George's County. According to the forecast, there is an 80 percent chance that flakes will fall sometime after 3 p.m., with accumulations up to one inch. The snow is predicted to continue in the evening, slowing by 10 p.m., blanketing the area with up to another half inch. Sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 30s are predicted for Saturday and Sunday.
About an inch of accumulation is expected.
Around an inch of snow could accumulate Wednesday night and into Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures will drop into the upper teens and winds could reach 20 miles per hour. Snow covered roads are expected to remain slippery through the morning rush, according to NWS.
Snow is in the forecast for Thursday.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for Montgomery and Prince George's counties until 1 p.m. today. The alert calls for a mix of freezing rain, sleet and rain, with possible accumulations of less than one inch of sleet and under a tenth of an inch of ice.
