MD and CA Six Flags Face Off on Super Bowl XLVII

Maryland staff wants to hear cawing from Six Flags' president in California, but he's planning on a 49ers win with some Kaepernicking instead.

  Six Flags America in Upper Marlboro, MD, has bet Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in California that it is the Ravens, and not the 49ers, who will bring home the Lombardi trophy after Super Bowl XLVII. One of the parks is in for a big surprise, as both of their presidents are convinced of victory. "There's a lot of smack talk going on here between the two parks," said Havilah Ross, Six Flags America spokeswoman.  Among other hat-eating feats, the park president whose team loses has to don the winning team's jersey and cap all day — plus lift high a large banner outside his park congratulating the winners. Six Flags Hosting Fright Fest Auditions

Interested parties can audition Monday and Tuesday evening in Upper Marlboro.

  Think you look your best in makeup? Maybe as a ghoul or zombie? Well, Six Flags America in Upper Marlboro is hosting auditions for 130 positions as Fright Fest 2012 entertainers. Maryland Running Festival Will Feature Half-Marathon

The event set for Oct. 20 near Six Flags America in Landover will include a 5K and a run for kids.

Organizers who hope to have running events in every state are starting this fall with the Maryland Running Festival in Prince George’s County. Registration opened last week for a half-marathon, a 5-kilometer (5K) run and a run for kids to be held Oct. 20 near Six Flags America in Landover. Clay Anderson and Ernesto Calderon, the organizers of the running festival, said they're working to attract 7,500 runners for the half-marathon, with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation named as the chief charitable beneficiary.   “We really wanted to do something special,” Calderon said. “I thought to myself, ‘What can I do as a father, as a resident of Maryland, to make things better for the next generation?’” Anderson and Calderon are partners in Siena …
