Second Suspect Arrested in 2012 Capitol Heights Shooting

The first suspect arrested in the November 2012 shooting was Lawson Mahdi, 24, of the 13000 block of Bishops Bequest Road in Upper Marlboro.

A second suspect has been arrested in the November 2012 shooting death of a Washington, DC man in Prince George's County. Police arrested Joshua Jermaine Benton, 23, of the 4800 block of Benning Road in Southeast Washington on Friday, March 22, and charged him with the murder of Sharod Darnell James—more than four months after his death. James, of Southeast DC, was found suffering from a gunshot wound in the 5600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway following a report of a shooting. According to a press release, Benton's alleged accomplice Lawson Mahdi, 24, of the 13000 block of Bishops Bequest Road in Upper Marlboro, was arrested just days after the shooting on Nov. 16. Mahdi was charged with second degree murder and related charges. …

Police Investigate 6th Killing of Pr. George's Student

Two Suitland High School students have been killed in shootings within two days, according to police. The most recent fatality, an 18-year-old shot Tuesday night, became the sixth student killed in Prince George's during the 2012-2013 school year. The latest death came in a double shooting in Forestville that involved 18-year-old Andre Walter Shuford, who succumbed to his injuries and was pronouced dead Wednesday afternoon, according to police. Shuford was from the 3500 block of Pumphery Drive in Forestville. Shuford is a former Prince George's County Public Schools student, according to county schools spokesman Briant Coleman. Second Man Arrested in Fatal Hillcrest Heights Shooting

Police arrested Robert Ofoeme of Silver Spring in the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old North Carolina man.

  Police arrested a Silver Spring man Thursday in the slaying of a North Carolina man shot in Hillcrest Heights, according to Prince George's County. Officers also arrested a Greenbelt man in the same incident on Feb. 7.  Robert Abba Ofoeme, 28, of the 1400 block of Rossiter Court in Silver Spring, is charged with conspiracy and solicitation to commit first and second degree murder, and is waiting extradition back to Prince George's County, police said.  Brandon Anthony Battle, 26, of the 6200 block of Springhill Court in Greenbelt, is charged with first- and second-degree murder and is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no bond status, police said.  Responding to a man-down call, Maryland-National Capital Park police …

College Park Shooter Dayvon Maurice Green: What We Know

Sources described a likable engineering student with a strong academic record—and a mental illness.

  On Tuesday afternoon, Prince George's County police identified the alleged shooter from an early morning murder-suicide in College Park as 23-year-old Dayvon Maurice Green. According to police, Green was an engineering graduate student at the University of Maryland. Speaking to reporters outside the scene of the shooting, UMD President Wallace Loh said he believed Green had been at the university for about a year. Green earned his undergraduate degree from Morgan State University in Baltimore, officials said. The Baltimore Sun reports that he was a member of Phi Beta Sigma's Gamma chapter and maintained a grade point average above 3.5. Pr. George's Police Ask Public to Help Find Shooting Suspect

Victim walks into hospital seeking aid for gunshot wound from Brandywine robbery.

  Prince George's County Police are asking the public for help finding a man wanted in a shooting and armed robbery Tuesday in Brandywine. Authorities are looking for Terry Lynn Savoy, 43, also known as Terry Lynn Brown, who has no fixed address. Savoy is charged with first degree assault, and police are asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to call them.  The victim walked into an area hospital for help after being robbed and shot in the 14200 block of Gibbons Church Road, according to police. Suspect Arrested in Killing of Man Found at Capitol Heights Firehouse

The Fort Washington victim and Forestville man suspected of shooting him were acquaintances, police said.

Prince Goerge's County Police have arrested a suspect in the Feb. 8 fatal shooting of a man in Forestville. After the shooting, the suspect drove the victim to a Capitol Heights firehouse and fled, police said. According to police, the victim and the suspect were acquaintances. The suspect, Sean Prince Hallowell, 25, of the 2500 block of Timbercrest Drive in Forestville was arrested Tuesday in Palmer Park and is charged with first degree murder, police said. He is being held at the Department of Corrections on a no bond status. A deputy sheriff who works in Alexandria, VA, was confronted by a burglary suspect when he arrived home to Fort Washington, according to police.

Two UMD Students Dead, One Injured in College Park Shooting

Graduate student Dayvon Maurice Green took his life after firing on his roommates, killing one.

Editor's note: Early Tuesday morning, two University of Maryland students were left dead and another injured in a shooting on 36th Ave. in College Park. Police say that the gunman, identified as 23-year-old graduate student Dayvon Maurice Green, set several fires around his house before shooting two of his roommates when they came outside. One—Stephen Alex Rane, 22, of Silver Spring—was later pronounced dead, while another suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Green then turned the gun on himself, according to police.
