Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest Felony Assault Suspect

Cordell Blackwell was taken into custody last week.

Deputies from the Prince George's County Sheriff's Office arrested a suspect last week on a warrant for first degree assault issued earlier this month. According to police, Cordell Blackwell was in the 8600 block of Cryden Way in Capitol Heights on Nov. 16 when he got into a verbal dispute with another person. Blackwell is accused of pulling out a handgun and threatening the life of the other man. Though he reportedly fled the scene of the incident, he was later identified by the victim. The sheriff's office said Cordell was apprehended without incident on Nov. 18 in the 3800 block of Blackwater Rd. in Clinton. Read more here.

Prince George's Sheriff To Hold Open House for Interested Police Explorers

Learn about the law enforcement field as a teen and prepare for a career.

The Prince George's Sheriff's Office is hosting an open house tonight—Wed, Nov. 14, 2012— for anyone interested in becoming a police explorer. The program helps teens ages 14 to 20 learn about the field of law enforcement and about careers in the field. The Explorer Recruitment Open House will be held at 6 p.m. at 5303 Chrysler Way in Upper Marlboro, MD. Those interested can contact Sgt. Y. Man Suspected in Upper Marlboro Home Burglary Arrested

The man was arrested Tuesday for a burglary that occurred over the summer.

A suspect in an Upper Marlboro home burglary was arrested Tuesday by the Prince George's Sheriff's Office. Deputies arrested Marcus Hardy on an arrest warrant obtained on Sept. 27 by the Prince George's County Police for first degree burglary. According to the warrant, Hardy allegedly sold $600 worth of stolen property at a local pawn shop on July 6. The property linked back to a June burglary in the 1000 block of Phillips Drive in Upper Marlboro, the warrant stated. Hardy was arrested at a home in the 10,000 block of Elizabeth Parnum Place in Upper Marlboro Tuesday. Hardy was charged with theft of less than $1,000 and he was taken into custody and being held on a $25,000 bond.
