Promise Place is funded with public and private money.
Prince George's County runaway and homeless youth will now have a safe haven where they can receive help and support. County and community officials gathered Thursday to officially open "Promise Place," the county's first publicly supported shelter for youth. County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III said the county's partnership with the Sasha Bruce Youthwork, Inc.—"a proven provider of youth services to provide federally supported management and operation of the 24-hour facility"—will give these youth a place to receive case management, food, medical attention, and other crisis intervention services. “This initiative represents several years of dedication and hard work from so many committed individuals,” Baker said. “I have to commend …

This weekend the county will be hosting a number of events to help beautify the community from Christmas in April, a mulch giveaway and spring cleanup.
Prince George's County residents, government leaders and business owners will be coming together Saturday to help beautify the community. According to County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III's office, "Super Spring Saturday" promotes volunteerism and neighborhood beautification. County Executive Rushern L. Baker is set to address members of Prince George's County business community Wednesday morning in Mitchellville. Baker will deliver his "State of the County" speech at the Woodmore Country Club in front of the Greater Bowie Chamber of Commerce and Greater Prince George’s Business Roundtable starting at 7:30 a.m. Following his speech, he is set to attend and speak at two more county events—36th Annual Valor Awards Luncheon at Martin’s Crosswinds in Greenbelt, MD to honor the Prince George’s County Public Safety community and The Community Foundation for Prince George’s 2013 Civic Leadership Awards Ceremony honoring county leaders.

I made a reservation for the Calvert House Inn for the Mother's Day Brunch with my niece. When we arrived we were told there was NO Mother's Day Brunch, they didn't advertise a brunch and were serving a full dinner menu, not even a lunch menu.
