Winter Weather Advisory issued for Prince George's County.
This morning's commute could be a wintry one. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory, effective from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m. Forecasts call for up to one inch of snow, with temperatures dropping into the high 20s. Moderate winds of 15-25 mph, gusting up to 35 mph, are also predicted. The weather service cautions motorists to use extra caution while driving. Worried about your commute? It's going to be sunny, but check out these temps!
Sun has been in short supply over the past week, but we're seeing it Monday in Prince George's County. However, according to the NWS forecast discussion, “Despite plenty of sunshine … max temps will remain below normal.” Temperatures are expected to hit just 49 degrees and drop to about 30 overnight. Tuesday, Election Day, we’ll see clear, sunny skies with highs in the mid-40s. Tuesday night, temperatures should drop to the mid-30s. Back to cloudy skies Wednesday, when rain is likely during the day and at night and temperatures range from the mid-30s to the mid-40s. Storms could bring strong winds, hail to the region, says National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Prince George's County and much of the surrounding Washington, D.C. region. According to the forecast, scattered thunderstorms may roll into the area this evening, some with the potential to produce large hail and powerful winds. For Independence Day, forecasters said that an upper level disturbance could bring severe thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. The storms aren't the only thing that could put a damper on your Fourth of July celebrations. With the heat index predicted to be above 100 on Wednesday, the risk of heat-related illnesses increases. Although you may be weary of them, thunderstorms remain in the regional forecast through at least the Fourth of July. According to the National Weather Service, today will bring mostly sunny skies, high temperatures in the low 90s, and a 30 percent chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Heading into the evening, chances of showers and thunderstorms will increase to 40 percent, but rainfalls are expected to be minimal.
