Taxi Hits 14-Year-Old Boy, Drives Away

The boy was rushed to a local hospital and is in critical condition.

A taxi cab hit a 14-year-old, from the Temple Hills-area, Thursday night and did not stop, according to Prince George's police. At around 6:30 p.m. police said they responded to the 4700 block of Wheeler Road in Temple Hills and found the boy in the roadway. He was rushed to a local hospital and is in critical condition, police said. Officers found the cab at the Southern Avenue Metro Station with the help of a witness. The driver was placed in custody Thursday night and interviewed, according to Cpl. Larry Johnson, Prince George's police spokesman. Johnson said he did not know where the driver was from. Upper Marlboro Woman Sentenced in Fatal Hit and Run Accident

Christy Littleford is sentenced for fleeing a hit and run that killed a Green Party candidate for U.S. Senate.

Christy Littleford, of Upper Marlboro, was sentenced today to four years in prison -- three suspended -- for a hit and run accident in 2010 that killed Natasha Pettigrew, 30, a Green Party candidate for U.S. Senate. Littleford also was ordered to pay a $1,500 fine, according to Nancy Lineman, a spokesperson for the Prince George’s County state’s attorney.  Littleford, 43, was facing up to 10 years in prison on several charges, including hit and run causing personal injury. Pettigrew was riding a bicycle along the side of Route 202 when she was struck. Ms. Littleford's claim that she hadn't known she hit a cyclist until she got home sounds like BS, an excuse to me. The facts hopefully wil come out but then again they may never. These days often drivers are using one hand to drive with and the other to text message or use their cell phone/smart phones to talk and they are not focusing all their attention on the road ahead of them. Upper Marlboro Woman Facing Up to 10 Years in Prison

An Upper Marlboro woman was convicted today for fleeing the scene of an accident after she struck a candiate for U.S. Senate with her car in 2010 and fled the scene, reported the Washington Post. Christy Littleford, 43, is facing up to 10 years in prison for the hit and run that killed 30-year-old Natasha Pettigrew, who was running as the Green Party candidate for senate that year. Pettigrew was riding a bicycle on Route 202 when she was struck by Littleford’s SUV on September 19, 2010, according to prosecutors.
