Police Increase Security at Ft. Washington High School

Student confrontations took place at Friendly High School Tuesday following the killing of a classmate. Now Prince George's police are increasing their presence.

Police will increase their presence at Friendly High School in Fort Washington following confrontations at the school on Tuesday over the killing of a classmate, according to a police official. Police arrested four students and the relative of a student Tuesday on school grounds, according to Lt. William Alexander, Prince George's police spokesman. Police plan to patrol the area before and after school for the remainder of the week, Alexander said Thursday. Three of the arrests occurred outside the school building during a minor confrontation related to raw emotions over the killing of a fellow student on Sunday, according to Alexander. Police Announce Cash Reward For Information on Killing of Ft. Washington Student

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for a valuable tip in the homicide case of Marcus Antonio Jones, according to police.

Detectives are seeking the public's help in solving the killing of 16-year-old Marcus Antonio Jones in Fort Washington Sunday. Jones, a student at Friendly High School, was the victim of a shooting by an unknown assailant, police said. A cash reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for the tip that leads to the arrest and indictment of the suspect or suspects, police announced Tuesday. Police ask anyone with information to call the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit at (301) 772-4925. Police say callers wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers at 1 (866) 411-TIPS (8477), text “PGPD plus your message” to CRIMES (274637) on your cell phone or go to the police's website and submit a tip online.

Students Arrested in Disturbance at Ft. Washington School After Classmate's Death

Police were called to Friendly High School after a disturbance Tuesday, when they arrived a second disturbance broke out, according to police.

  At least three people, two of them Friendly High School students, were arrested following disturbances at the high school Tuesday, Prince George's police said. It was the first school day following a weekend shooting that left a Friendly High School student dead. Marcus Antonio Jones, 16, died after being shot by an unknown suspect while walking to his car in Fort Washington Sunday, police said. On Tuesday, two disturbances occurred, according to Officer Nicole Hubbard, Prince George's County police spokeswoman. The second one led to the arrests; all three were charged with second-degree assault, she said. Both disturbances occurred inside the school, according to an ABC7 report. Marcus Antonio Jones, 16, was an apparent gunshot victim of an unknown assailant, police said.

Police have announced a meeting with the Fort Washington community on Wednesday to discuss the killing of 16-year-old Marcus Antonio Jones, according to Prince George's police. Officers found Jones suffering from an apparent gunshot wound on Sunday in the 7700 block of Webster Lane in Fort Washington, according to a police news release. Jones was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said. Police said Jones was walking to a car after leaving a home on Webster Lane when an an unknown assailant shot him and ran.
