Teen Gets 25 Years For Shooting Toddler in Face

The 2-year-old victim, Deondre Johnson, is facing the first of many reconstructive surgeries on Monday.

Deven Angel Matos, 18, of Fort Washington, was sentenced today to 25 years in prison for shooting then 23-month-old Deondre Johnson in the face, according to a press release issued by the state’s attorney. According to the release, Matos was found guilty of first-degree assault and use of a handgun in the commission of a crime of violence against Johnson; second-degree assault and use of a handgun in the commission of a crime of violence against Johnson’s mother, Shaneka Johnson; and of carrying a handgun and reckless endangerment. On the evening of August 22, the victim was with his mother outside of their apartment building when she heard shots fired and ran with him inside, according to police reports. Teen Convicted of Shooting 23-Month-Old in Face

The incident happened in August.

A 17-year-old Fort Washington boy was convicted by a Prince George's County Circuit Court jury Wednesday of assault, according to online court records. Follow Upper Marlboro Patch on Facebook and Twitter. Deven Angel Matos of the 1600 block of Thomas Road was accused of shooting a 23-month-old in the face in August, according to WUSA9. His sentencing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. June 8.

For everybody on here making comments about Deven and do not know the full story FIRST go read the full article because this is not it SECOND A lot of ya'll are saying he should not be running the streets...this happened during the day he is allowed at 17 to be out during the day unsupervised!
