Employee Pleads Guilty to Wire Fraud, Identity Theft at Nonprofit

Penny Parker Green, of Bowie, pleads guilty to stealing $166,000 from group that aids families with mentally disabled members.

Bowie resident Penny Parker Green, 34, pleaded guilty Wednesday to federal charges of aggravated identity theft and wire fraud for stealing $166,000 from Arc of Prince George’s County and up to 72 residents while she was employed there. Arc of Prince George’s County is a nonprofit based in Largo that provides services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families, according to their website. Services provided include day care, employment services and in-home support. The U.S. Department of Justice said the plea agreement also states that Green had other employees withdraw cash for residents’ bank accounts for her personal uses and that she stole petty cash intended for residents for her personal use. Upper Marlboro Couple Charged with Harboring an Alien

The couple pleaded guilty to harboring a Filipina national in their home for more than 10 years.

Two Upper Marlboro residents are each facing up to five years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines for harboring an alien in their home for 10 years, according to a press release issued by the United States Department of Justice. Alfred Edwards, 74, and his wife Gloria, 60, pleaded guilty yesterday to harboring a Filipina national whom they brought into the country under false pretenses, according to the Department of Justice. Their plea agreements state that the couple began arranging for the Filipina national, whose name was not released, to come into the country, including paying $5,000 to aid in her travel costs, entry into the country, and to secure a false visa.
