The 'Elito 8' will go head-to-head in four brackets, beginning on 'Selection Monday.'
Now burrito fans as well as basketball fans have a reason to get "mad" this March. Cal-mex chain and Prince George's favorite California Tortilla has launched an 'Elito 8' competition to determine the next limited-time menu offering. During the NCAA-style showdown, CalTort fans can vote for eight possible menu items in four brackets, leading up to the semi-finals and culminating with an April 5 championship. The "Elito 8" are being revealed "Selection Monday," March 18, on Facebook and the California Tortilla website. Each online vote will be counted as an entry into a drawing for a catered NCAA Championship viewing party for 20. The winner will be announced April 6, just in time for the big game. The results are in, and Obama's Chicken Teriyaki Luau Bowl claimed a sweeping victory over Romney’s Mexican Mitt-Loaf Bowl.
California Tortilla asked their patrons to vote with their tastebuds this election season, and the results are in. The restaurant chain, which has a location in Bowie Town Center, debuted its 2012 Presidential Burrito Bowls in August. On Monday, the chain announced that Obama’s Chicken Teriyaki Luau Bowl had claimed a sweeping victory over Romney’s Mexican Mitt-Loaf Bowl, including "swing state" victories in Virginia and Pennsylvania. California Tortilla Chief Operating Officer and head chef Keith Goldman developed the bowls after researching the candidates’ backgrounds and food preferences, according to a release announcing the promotion.
