Man Airlifted after Car Struck By CSX Train

The driver sustained life-threatening injuries, according to a fire department official.

  A driver whose car was struck by a train in Brandywine, MD, Wednesday was evacuated by a Maryland State Police helicopter with life-threatening injuries, according to Prince George's Fire/EMS chief spokesman. The driver was trying to cross railroad tracks in a 2001 Ford Mustang, according to Prince George's County police.  The unidentified driver is believed to be about 25-years old, according to Mark Brady, Prince George's County Fire/EMS chief spokesman. The tracks where he was struck cross Brandywine Road between Ice Plant Road and Cherry Tree Crossing Road. There are two to three train tracks within a couple mile stretch there, according to Brady. The driver's car was struck by an oncoming CSX train after he tried to cross the tracks…
