Weekend Weather: A Mixed Bag

Saturday's rainy skies forecast to give way to a (mostly) sunny Sunday.

A mixed bag of clouds and rain will be followed by more sunshine the second half of the weekend, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Clouds rolling in today will by Saturday cover the entire region with rain, from the the DC/Maryland area to the Delmarva beaches; but the good news is the sun should make a re-appearance by Sunday--and temperatures will continue to be comfortable.

Here in Prince George's and Montgomery Counties (and rest of the  DC region), clouds will thicken this afternoon with showers and isolated storms possible. Shower chances will continue this evening and overnight into Saturday, which looks to be an off-and-on rainy day. Temps will be in the cooler upper 70s with east winds of 10-15 mph. Showers will likely continue Saturday evening, with lows in the 60s. By Sunday, after a cloudy morning sunshine should return for a partly cloudy but comfortable day, with highs in the 80s and light northeast winds.

The weekend outlook is much the same for the Delmarva beaches, from Rehoboth to Ocean City (and the entire mid-Atlantic coast). Saturday brings a 50 percent chance of showers, as well as possible thunderstorms after 2 pm. Highs will be in the upper 70s/lower 80s, with east winds of 10-15 mph. The chance of showers and storms continues Saturday night, with lows in the upper 60s.  The best day for beach-going looks to be Sunday, with a mix of sunshine and clouds and a high near 83.

In Annapolis, it's the same story Saturday with showers likely all day; but Sunday is forecast to be mostly cloudy with slightly greater chances of rain, continuing into the evening. Highs will be in the upper 70s/lower 80s with lows in the upper 60s and light northeast winds.

Here's the forecast breakdown for Prince George's and the Metro DC region:

Friday Afternoon: Partly sunny with a chance of isolated thunderstorms. Highs in the mid-80s. Chance of rain 50 percent. Tonight: Mostly cloudy. Chance of showers in the evening. Lows in the mid-60s. Chance of rain 30 percent.
