Here are some fun things to do around town with the family this weekend.
Where/When: Prince George's Public Playhouse, 5445 Landover Rd, Cheverly, Maryland 20784, Friday, July 20, 10 a.m. & 12 noon Saturday, July 21, 11 a.m.
Why to go: Performed "By Kids," "For Kids," "Not Just for Kids!" This will be a breathtaking and high energy performance honoring the memory of the King of Pop and music legend, Michael Jackson, through a melody of some of his greatest hits.

Why to go: Meet some of the nature center's animals up close. Reservations are required.

Blast in the Past: Hands-On History Playground
Where/When: Montpelier Mansion, 9650 Muirkirk Road, Laurel 20708, Thursday, July 19–Saturday, August 11, 11 am–3 pm (Open until 7 pm on Friday, July 20 and Friday, July 27.)
Why to go: Montpelier’s grounds will be transformed into a history playground! Have fun and learn about life 200 years ago! Lots of surprises in store. Come for an hour or stay for the day. No reservations required.
Please note that Blast in the Past will stay open until 7 pm on Friday, July 20 and Friday, July 27, followed by a concert or play on the grounds. Bring a picnic dinner or purchase food from a vendor on Montpelier's grounds.

Art Exhibit: Patricia Phillips Bowden - Eight By Ten

Why to go: View new paintings that explore the artist’s fascination with miniatures in the Resident Gallery.

Festival of Lights in July: “Put a Little Twinkle in Your Life”
Where/When: Wednesday, June 27-Tuesday, July 31, 2012,
Why to go: Celebrate the Festival of Lights this July! Be a part of this great winter community celebration at Watkins Regional Park by donating $1 at Central Area locations. For each donation you make, a paper “Holiday Light” will be hung up in the facility in which you made your donation. All the “Holiday Lights” will be hung at the Festival of Lights in December.

Where/When: Dinosaur Park, 13200 block of Mid-Atlantic Blvd., Laurel 20708
Why to go: Dinosaur Park is a 41-acre park in Laurel, Maryland, featuring a rare deposit of fossils from the Cretaceous Period (144 to 65 million years ago). On the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month, you can join paleontologists and volunteers on-site to interpret fossil deposits.
Reservations are required for all activities and programs.

Where/When: Marietta House Museum, 5626 Bell Station Road, Glenn Dale 20769, Sunday, July 22, 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Why to go: Bring your favorite antique pieces to Marietta where licensed appraisers from around the region will tell you about your item and give you an estimated value. Tours of the mansion will be available.

Whether it’s Date Night Friday or Family Sunday, pack your picnic and chairs, and meet us at the Plaza’s big screen for a FREE evening of ocean breezes and all-ages fun!
Bring your lawn chairs, but coolers filled with alcohol or food will not be allowed.
