If the Fireworks Fly, You'll be Fined
County residents can face $1,000 penalties, jail time for setting off sparklers and ground displays.

Planning a backyard fireworks show? Or setting off a few sparklers on the Fourth of July? You may want to change your mind.
Letting those sparks fly will come with a hefty fine—and maybe even some jail time.

Prince George’s County Fire Department are reminding citizens that all consumer fireworks—from sparklers to ground displays—are illegal in the county.
Residents could face a maximum fine of $1,000 or up to six months in jail for setting off fireworks in the county.

Police encourage citizens to attend a public or municipal display if they want to see fireworks. Patch.com has a map of local fireworks shows and events. Police have also posted a list of local displays here.
Prince George’s County is one of three jurisdictions that prohibit all consumer fireworks. Montgomery County and the City of Baltimore also do not allow consumer use of fireworks.
