Former Wise Players Seek Transfer From Maryland

Rahsaan Moore and Titus Till will not return to the University of Maryland football program.

A pair of former Wise High School football standouts have been granted a release from their scholarship at the University of Maryland and plan to transfer elsewhere, according to a statement released by the university earlier this week.

Redshirt freshmen and Wise graduates Rahsaan Moore and Titus Till will not return to the Maryland football program in 2012 and are expected to transfer at the end of the semester.

In the statement, Maryland head coach Randy Edsall said that the program would “wish them nothing but the best in their future endeavors.”

Wise High head football coach DaLawn Parrish said about ten to fifteen schools have shown interest in his former players including FCS (formerly known as Division I-AA) programs such as James Madison, Old Dominion and Delaware.

“It’s so many different schools looking at them,” said Parrish, who noted that both student-athletes are in the process of taking college visits.

“They could go Division I but they would have to sit out and lose a year of eligibility,” Parrish said.

The exodus of Maryland football players seems to be growing every week. Besides Moore and Till, the university also announced this week that running back Jeremiah Wilson and lineman R.J. Dill would also be leaving the program. Six players have left the program since the season ended including D.J. Adams and David Mackall.

Till, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound defensive back from Upper Marlboro who registered 47 tackles in eleven games this season, was a 2009 consensus all-state selection and the third-ranked player in Maryland according to Rivals.com.

During his senior campaign, Till registered 64 tackles and four interceptions to help lead the Pumas to the Class 4A state championship game. He also considered Georgia Tech, Clemson, Boston College and Virginia before he opted for Maryland and then head coach Ralph Friedgen.

Meanwhile, Moore, a 6-foot-2, 230-pound running back, was among the nation’s top-ranked fullbacks coming out of high school. He also earned honorable mention all-state on the defensive line.

During his senior campaign, the District Heights resident rushed for 461 yards on 74 carries and scored 15 touchdowns. He also posted 38 solo tackles including five sacks and one interception in helping lead the Pumas to the 4A state championship game.

“It’s a different [Maryland] coaching staff from when they came,” said Parrish. “Two different styles of coaching and sometimes it’s like that.”
