Two Upper Marlboro Schools to See Bell Changes This Fall

The changes will allow for millions in transportation savings and increased instructional time for struggling students.

In an effort to save around $5 million dollars, 34 Prince George’s County Public Schools will change their bell times to combine some high school and middle school bus routes, reported the Gazette.

As a result of this change, the new schedule for affected Upper Marlboro schools will be 7:45 a.m. to 2:25 p.m. for Frederick Douglass High School and 9 a.m. to 4:20 p.m. for James Madison Middle School.

School officials say that the bell change will also add 40 minutes of instructional time, which will be used to help struggling students meet state standards, according to the Gazette.
