Prince George's Community College One of the Nation's Fastest Growing

The college reported a 13 percent increase in enrollment in 2009.

Prince George’s Community College is one of the nation’s 50 fastest growing two-year colleges, according to Community College Week.

The community college, in Largo, ranked 48th for its continued growth in credit student enrollment over the 2008 and 2009 school years. In 2008, 12,110 students were enrolled; in 2009, 13,685 students were enrolled.

In fall 2010, 14,814 credit students were enrolled, representing an 8.2 percent increase over fall 2009.

The college offers students more than 200 academic, workforce development and continuing education programs including hospitality services management, public safety and law, teacher education, health studies, visual communication and information security.

“At a time of economic recession people realize how important the role of community colleges plays in retraining our workforce,” Tracy A. Harris, dean of enrollments services at Prince George's Community College, said in a statement. “The college has managed to increase enrollment because of its ability to adapt and offer programs that prepare students well for today’s growing career fields."
