Prince George's Community College Chooses Its Official Song

The college's new victory song will be performed at athletic events, commencement and other student activities.

 

A dozen entries came in from students staff and faculty in Prince George's Community College's contest to select lyrics for a victory song — and the winner was "Victorious," literally.

Plans to put the winning lyrics of "Victorious" to music are underway, according Joe Clark, PGCC spokesman. The victory song will be performed at athletic events, commencement and other student activities, according to Kalika White, lyrics contest committee member.

“We wanted students to get excited about attending and graduating from Prince George's Community College,” said White.

The winning lyrics came from adjunct English professor Tracy Johnson, and its refrain is:

“Excellence is our motto in everything we create. We are partners of positive change in our quest to educate. We’re wise as owls with astonishing diversity and that is one reason why we pledge our love and loyalty!” 

Johnson will receive a $500 PGCC Bookstore voucher from Neebo, according to Clark.
