Wise Choices for Dr. Henry A. Wise, Jr. Graduates

The seniors celebrated their high school graduation at the University of Maryland's Comcast Center.

Over 1,000 family and friends filled the Comcast Center with applause, cheers, and tears on Friday as they watched the Dr. Henry A. Wise, Jr. High School Class of 2012 collect their degrees.

Assistant Principal and Senior Class Administrator Sheila Robertson had to take a moment when she was moved to tears addressing the class. She advised her students to always strive for excellence, to be people of integrity, and to respect themselves and those around them.

“This is a class of winners,” said Robertson. “Lead the way and let others follow you.”

Principal Carletta Marrow was very proud of the 525 students who graduated today, who set state records in academics and athletics, and who earned more than $3 million in scholarships.

After leading the class in a final Puma cheer, she said simply, “Wise choices,” as she left the podium before awarding the students their diplomas.

Recent Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. graduate Lauren Haythe was beside herself with excitement after accepting her diploma.

“I’m ready to go to college,” she said. “I made it, all I can say is I made it.”
