PGCC Tops AACC in Mens Basketball

The Prince George's Community College team defeated Anne Arundel Community College, 77-76, in the Region XX Championship.

It was a close game on Saturday as (PGCC) won the mens basketball Region XX Championship game against (AACC).

PGCC came out on top by just one point, 77-76. Both teams play in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

Josiah Woodruff received MVP honors at the tournament, according to a release from PGCC. The following players were named to the all-tournament team: David Golladay of PGCC, and Kevin Eaglin and Erin Senegal, both of AACC.

PGCC is one of only 11 teams still playing in NJCAA Division III mens basketball.

“Our squad is filled with extraordinary young student athletes and has great leadership under Coach Xavier Joyner,” said Jo Ann Rogers Todaro, athletics director at PGCC, in a release. “We feel very strongly that this team is a national contender."

PGCC will take on the Region XVII champion West Georgia Technical College at 5 p.m. on Friday at Rockingham Community College in Wentworth, NC.
