White House Releases Photo of President Obama Shooting Rifle at Camp David

The president is seen skeet shooting at the presidential retreat in Maryland.

The White House Saturday released an official photograph of President Obama skeet shooting at Camp David in Catoctin Mountain Park in Frederick County, MD.

The photo, taken last August, shows a jeans-clad Obama firing at clay targets on the grounds of the presidential retreat, the White House said.

It was released after skepticism surfaced about Obama's statement quoted in The New Republic that he participates in skeet shooting regularly.

"If he is a skeet shooter, why have we not heard of this? Why have we not seen photos?" Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) said earlier this week. "I think he should invite me to Camp David, and I'll go skeet shooting with him. And I bet I'll beat him."

The flap came as the president mounted a push for congressional action on restricting purchases of high-capacity rifles and ammunition amid criticism by pro-gun activists who oppose such legislation.

I have concluded that his posture in incorrect for shooting skeet. I would like to had access to the original photo. Seems to me it may have been photo-shopped.

For God's sake, my college journalism professor would flunk your writer and editors based on just the first few lines of this article. An obvious rule is to research and report FACT, and you have sloppily reported this photo as Obama firing a rifle, and worse yet, at skeet! So, we can conclude that you don't know the radical difference between a shotgun (which he is firing) and a rifle, or that one literally NEVER skeet shoots with a rifle. It would be like trying to thread a needle in a dark room with a blindfold. It can't be done, and is not even in the realm of plausible. You are guilty of, at the most generous of observations, journalistic incompetence; at worst, malfeasance. What say you?

This is definitely a White House publicity stunt. Mr. NO GUN FOR ANYONE FIRING ANYTHING AT Camp David? He just wants more publicity!!!

Well, since this pix is intended to gain support of NRAers, I can't wait for the pix aimed at all the war hawks in this country, maybe a shot of the pres. signing off on his kill list.
