Water Shortage Looms, Emergency Steps Outlined

At a press conference held amid sweltering Tuesday afternoon temperatures, director of the Prince Georges County Emergency Operation Center Ronnie Gill updated members of the public on the county's response to imminent water shortages which will affect areas of southern prince George's County starting tonight at 9 p.m.

Gill said that, among other steps, the county will be opening two reception centers outside of the affected areas for residents to use to get access to water and other supplies. The location and operating hours of the reception centers have not yet been finalized.

The water restrictions are expected to last between three and five days while work commences to fix a deteriorating water main which serves a large portion of southern Prince Georges County.
