State Probing Unreported $206K Donation to Rushern Baker's Campaign

Political committee County 1 failed to file paperwork for the Jan. 2010 contribution, the Washington Post reports.

State election officials are asking a political committee why it neglected to report a $206,000 donation to Prince George's County Executive Rushern Baker's 2010 campaign, The Washington Post writes.

According to the Post, County 1 failed to filed paperwork for its Jan. 13, 2010 donation and didn't record any income of its own until after the contribution was made.

Aaron Copeland, County 1's treasurer, told the Post he believes that $200,000 of the funds were given by Renters Finance, a subsidiary of one of the county's major landlords.

Depending on the information provided to the State Board of Elections, the matter could be referred to state prosecutors for further investigation.
