Rushern Baker to Join State's Attorney in Citizens Dialogue Thursday

Baker and several other officials and community leaders to discuss race relations and public safety with county residents.

Prince George's County Executive Rushern Baker will join State's Attorney Angela Alsobrooks and other county officials and community leaders to convene a citizen dialogue on race relations and public safety on Thursday, April 26.

The event will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Charles Herbert Flowers High School, 10001 Ardwick-Ardmore Road, Springdale.

“In the wake of the Trayvon Martin case in Florida, I think we have an opportunity to address an issue that has long been a challenge in our county,” said Alsobrooks in a statement.  “I have heard from you loud and clear and I am very concerned about the divide that sometimes exists between our public safety team and those we serve.”

The event is free to the public and all Prince George's County residents are encouraged to attend.

Panel attendees include: Police Chief Mark Magaw, Deputy Police Chief Craig Howard, Delegate Joseline Pena-Melnyk, Berwyn Heights Mayor Cheye Calvo, Reverend Tony Lee, Bob Ross with the NAACP and Lisa Robinson, Deputy District Public Defender.  Michael Higginbotham, Dean of the University of Baltimore's School of Law, will serve as moderator.
