Rep. Donna Edwards to Speak on Jobs, Higher Education

Edwards joins a forum of local officials and business leaders to discuss the role of employment in higher education.

Congressional Representative Donna Edwards (D-4) will join local officials and and business leaders on Wednesday at Prince George’s Community College (PGCC) as part of their Technology and Business forum, according to press release issued by PGCC.

Forum participants will debate the role of employment and higher education, training challenges in the region, and the formation of a technology and engineering council in the county.

“The forum is the first step in a new partnership between the college and businesses,” Ashante Abubakar, program director for Information Technology Institute said in the press release. “The goal is to ensure the county’s employers have access to the best educated and trained workers in the technology and engineering fields to meet current and future industry demands,” he added.

Other speakers and participants in the form include President of PCC Charlene Dukes, Prince George’s County Council Chair Andrea Harrison, Lockheed Martin Senior Manager Richard Williams, and more.

The forum will take place on June 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Largo Student Center in Community Rooms A, B, and C.

Congresswoman Edwards is scheduled to speak at 9 a.m.
