Light Rail Coming to Upper Marlboro? We'll See.

Upper Marlboro councilman will urge Metro access for southern Maryland.

If you live in and around Upper Marlboro, you're familiar with the pros and cons of its secluded serenity. With all the trees here, getting a clear DirecTV signal is a small triumph. 

The town, with its rolling land and vintage tobacco farms, seems far away from everything. And if it's raining, don't even think about driving along , . 

Maybe that's why County Councilman Mel Franklin, whose district represents portions of Upper Marlboro, wants light rail from the Branch Avenue Metro Station to Waldorf, making it easier for Southern Maryland residents to travel to D.C., according to a report in The Washington Examiner.
