Updated, Oct. 15, 1:28 p.m.: Woman Dies From Injuries Sustained in Upper Marlboro House Fire

---------

A woman found unconcious Sunday in an Upper Marlboro house fire remains in critical condition as of 5 p.m. Sunday, according to Prince George's County Fire Department spokesman Mark Brady.

This fire was one of the three blazes that broke out across Prince George's County Sunday morning.

Firefighters were called out to a home in the 12800 block of Peachleaf Court in Upper Marlboro near Largo Road around 3 a.m. Sunday, according to Brady.

The fire, which started in the basement of the two-story home, was extinguished quickly, he said, however firefighters located an unconcious woman inside.

She was treated on scene and then rushed to a local hospital, Brady said.

The fire cause about $30,000 in damage and although the cause is still under investigation, Brady said, early signs point to it being accidental.

My condolences to her family. Fire is always a tragedy and loosing a loved one compounds the situation. If the fire was caused by a malfunctioning furnance, I pray that people take this as a serious warning and have their heating systems checked AND don't use space heaters. Of the other 2 fires in the county on Sunday morning, one was caused by the furnance, the other by a space heater.

Thanks Ms. Perry. I will pass along your condolences to Ms. Young. I'm still trying to digest my friend of 38 years passing as well as how she passed.
