Upper Marlboro Teen Charged in VA Killing Was Out On Bond

UVA student Ryan Christopher Simms, 19, was awaiting sentencing for a robbery committed last year.

The Upper Marlboro teen and Virginia State University (VSU) student being sought for the fatal shooting of a Petersburg, VA man was out on bond awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to two robbery counts in Prince George's County, reported the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Simms was free on bond prior to his Feb. 14 trial. According to John Erzen, communications director for the state's attorney, prosecutors did not object to him remaining free pending his May 18 sentencing so that he could finish his semester at VSU, reported the Richmond Times Dispatch.

Simms, a student at VSU, is majoring in health, physical education and recreation/dance. He is still at large.
