Upper Marlboro Man Killed in Fatal Bowie Crash

The name of the deceased has not yet been released.

A 59-year-old Upper Marlboro man was pronounced dead Monday following single vehicle collision at the intersection of Devonwood Drive and Central Avenue in Bowie, according to a police report.

Police believe the car was crossing Jennings Mills Drive when the driver lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons, hitting two island curbs and then landing in a ditch.

The driver was found unresponsive at the scene transported to Bowie Heath Center where he was pronounced dead.

The body was sent to the Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy to determine cause of death, though police believe the driver may have had a medical emergency while behind the wheel that caused him to veer off the road. Speed does not appear to be a factor, police said, and no other cars were involved in the crash.
