Upper Marlboro Man Faces Charges of Negligent Hunting

Roy A. Contee reportedly shot a member of his hunting group in the abdomen and knee.

Roy A. Contee of Upper Marlboro faces multiple charges after he reportedly shot one of his friends during an illegal hunting incident, according to a Baltimore Sun report.

Contee was reportedly charged with negligent hunting, hunting without written permission and hunting with buckshot.

After the incident, Ricky L. Johnson of Clinton, was taken to the Prince George's Hospital for treatment of his injuries that are not considered life-threatening, the Sun reported.

On Sunday, the three men were reportedly hunting along Indian Head Highway and Oxon Hill Road. According to the report, the hunters were attempting to flush out a deer from the underbrush when it leapt out and startled the group. That's when Contee reportedly fired a shotgun and struck Johnson.

The Maryland National Capital Park Police is investigating the incident.
