Upper Marlboro House Fire Causes $525,000 in Damage
The fire extended to other townhouses, displacing those families as well. No one was injured.
Five Upper Marlboro families are forced to find temporary housing this morning, after a townhouse fire spread to their homes and caused $525,000 in damage, according to a county fire spokesman.
Shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday, some 50 firefighters were dispatched to the 3000 block of Chester Grove Road in Upper Marlboro for a heavy fire billowing from a two-story townhouse.
Because of the heavy fire, a wall collapsed in the home, which prompted firefighters to evacuate the burning building. It took them 45 minutes to extinguish the fire, said Mark Brady, a spokesman for the county fire department.
