Trial Begins in Case of Missing Alexandria Activist

The case into how Lenwood Harris ended up dead in a well in Ft. Washington, MD begins this week.

The man accused of murdering an Alexandria activist will be put on trial this week in Prince George's County.

Tyrone Lewis is charged with murder, armed carjacking, armed robbery and other charges in the death of Lenwood Harris, according to the office of Prince George's County State's Attorney Angela D. Alsobrooks.

Harris, 53, went missing from Alexandria in Sept. 2011, police reported. After months of searching for Harris, his body was found in a Ft. Washington well on Jan. 26, 2012.

Lewis' co-defendant, Linwood Johnson, pleded guilty to 2nd degree murder, robbery with a deadly weapon and related charges and is scheduled to be sentenced in October, Alsobrooks' office reported.

ABC7 is reporting that Lewis may be linked to two other murders in the DC region. Read more about those cases on their website.
