I live in Prince Georges County and I hate it! I grew up in Brooklyn, NY I am also retired military and I have never feared living in a place as much as I fear living in the DMV area! I've even been to war! I know there is crime everywhere but this area seems to produce the most senseless crime individuals! I am angry because I have a 12 year old son who needs his phone to call us in case of emergencies or whatever how dare this idiot shoot that child!!!! I just needed to vent this because I am so upset with the crime and I also hate the law enforcement here too!! They are crappy, with bad attitudes and no experience! I can go on for days. Thanks for reading.

I strongly believe that the guilty must be punished and not necessarily by the laws that govern this country. if possible that my condition becomes miraculously better, then I will make physical efforts to alleviate people of this caliber. At all costs, evil must not prevail under any circumstances. The world needs a hero, a superhero that is uncanny and that time will come in the future. De, de, de, duhh, duhh, duhh. The End.

I do agree with both comments. This country needs stricter laws and a better justice system. The police in Washington, D.C. Are lazy, inexperience who just don't care to do to their jobs properly to in sure the safety of the citizens. You can't even ride a bus or subway without fearing for your life. Just sad and it's even worst for our children. May god bless us all in this crazy and dangerous world we all live in.

it starts at home parents need to stop being friends and be parents. these teenagers don't have a since of guidance and there looking for love through all the wrong people and in all the wrong places. the enconomy is crashing again so it's only going to get worse, so we as citizens must step up and show these younger folks that there is a better way. anger does not solve the problem it only makes it worse, i know how it feel to lose someone to the heartless streets. my goal is to empower these young men and women, and not ridicule or penalize them for the ignorance of those who suppose to empower them their parents.

The U.S. is truly a bad place to be in at times. Its sad that that kid shot over his gun n the cell phone is not worth losing ur life over just like money its not worth it. I would tell my kids if u get robbed give them what they want because I can replace the phone n money but I can not replace u

Wow. Sad to read you feel that way about where you live. I live in Northern Va and am a native of the DMV (lived in DC, MD and now VA). There are places I don't frequent because I don't feel safe or familiar. However, where I live I feel safe but I also realize that violence and stupidity is everywhere. Always be aware of your surroundings. But we also have to know that material things are not as important as life.

Natasha, I truly understand what you are feeling. I am from Florida and I work as a Trauma Nurse. I think senseless crime arise from uneducated poor people. Rich educated people crime has a bigger purpose. Please do not misunderstand me, all crime is bad, however the people who create this type of crime has no moral standards.

Teresa, I have to totally disagree with you about the United States being a bad place all the time. I am from the South and we have a very detailed social structure that is combined with education. It is very important that we as Americans teach our kids the basic concept of loving ourselves and knowing God. We must return to our basic family unit which includes 2 parents that are raising kids together. Children should respect their elders, and the expectation for them is to go to college. We must set high standards for our children.
