No Suspects a Week After Kettering Teen Gunned Down in Bedroom

Prince George's County police return to the scene to find more clues in the death of 17-year-old Amber Stanley.

Prince George's County police Friday are returning to the scene of the killing of 17-year-old Amber Stanley, gunned down in her bedroom in Kettering, to search for more clues after more than a week without leads or suspects.

On Aug. 22, around 10:23 p.m. an intruder broke into the Cambleton Drive home of Stanley , police reported. Stanley was a senior honors student at Charles H. Flowers High School with aspirations to go to Harvard and become a doctor, her principal Gorman Brown told WJLA last week.

Police told The Washington Post it’s likely the gunman had planned to kill someone specific because he or she did not take anything from the home and fled immediately after the shooting.

However, they said it’s not clear whether the gunman entered the wrong home or bedroom.

Although others were home at the time of the shooting, they managed to escape, police said. But nine days later,

After news of her death spread, friends took to Twitter to express grief and post memories of Stanley.

A police spokeswoman said they are returning to the scene with academy students in order to help scour the scene for clues. They also will go door-to-door talking to neighbors about Stanley's slaying.
