Police: Driver Flees After Car Crash Kills 7-Year-Old Girl

Prince George's County Police are searching for the suspected driver.

County police are searching for an Hispanic woman they believe was driving an SUV involved in an accident that fatally wounded a 7-year-old girl Wednesday night.

According to Prince George's County Police, the woman—who goes by "Rosa"— was wearing a blue shirt when she fled from the scene of the crash in Temple Hills.

Detectives said the officers responded to the intersection of Saint Barnabas Road and Temple Hill Road around 9:45 p.m. for a report of an accident.

According to their preliminary investigation, an SUV travelling on Temple Hills Road collided with a minivan travelling on Saint Barnabas Road. After the accident, the woman driving the SUV fled the scene, according to the report. 

Seven-year-old Azarya Johnson of the 2900 block of Brinkley Road in Temple Hill was riding in the minivan and was later pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

Another child, the adult driving the minivan, and a man riding in the SUV suffered non-life threatening injuries. The SUV passenger remained on scene.

All three were released from the hospital on Thursday.
