Greenbelt Man Charged in Fatal Shooting of N. Carolina Man

Prince George's police arrested Brandon Anthony Battle, who is charged in a Hillcrest Heights killing.

A Greenbelt man is charged in the murder of a 20-year old North Carolina man after he was arrested on Thursday by Prince George's County.

Responding to a man-down call, Maryland-National Capital Park police found Salaam Adams, of Durham, NC, in Oxon Run Park at around 7:25 a.m. on Feb. 4. He was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, according to police. Adams was pronounced dead on the scene in the 2600 block of Oxon Run Drive in Hillcrest Heights, police said.

Police arrested 26-year-old Brandon Anthony Battle of the 6200 block of Springhill Court this morning. An investigation led police to Greenbelt, where they found Battle, according to Corp. Larry Johnson, Prince George's police spokesman. It was unclear where in Greenbelt Battle was discovered.

Police are investigating what Adams was doing in Maryland, Johnson said.

Battle is charged with first- and second-degree murder and is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no bond status, police said.
