A suspect wearing a medical mask and plastic gloves robbed the PNC Bank located inside the Crain Highway Giant last week.

A man wearing a white medical mask and plastic gloves robbed the PNC Bank at 3500 Crain Hwy inside of the Giant grocery store on Thursday, according to a police report.

At around 7:20 p.m. on Dec. 20, Bowie police responded to a holdup alarm at the PNC Bank on Crain Highway located inside of the Giant grocery store.

A bank employee told police that a man entered the bank wearing a medical mask and gloves. The suspect opened his jacket to reveal what the bank employee believed to be a handgun and demanded money. The bank employee handed over the money and the suspect fled on foot.

Police locked down the store to search for the suspect, but he was not found in the store, according to the report. Bowie Police detectives, Prince George’s County police and a Prince George’s County K9 unit searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate the suspect.

There needs to be miniature yet POWERFUL explosive devices, NOT harmless dye packs, inbedded in the money given to bank robbers. The timer needs to be SHORT, maybe about 3 mins MAX to lessen the chance of innocents being injured. The treasury can just print REPLACEMENT bills!!! Bank ROBBERS GIVE UP the RIGHT to safety when they decide to TAKE what does NOT belong to them.
