Local Police Officers to Host Coat Drive Next Month

The coat drive begins Oct. 8 and continues until Dec. 15.

District 5 police officers have parterned with the One Warm Coat Organization to sponsor a Coat Drive beginning Oct. 8. The drive will continue until Dec. 15, according to the District 5 police station.

One Warm Coat is a national nonprofit organization that supports and encourages coat drives. It helps individuals, groups, companies and organizations across the country collect coats and deliver them to local agencies that distribute the coats free to people in need. More than one million coats have been provided to those in need at no cost since its inception in 1992.

“The coat drive for families in need is yet another example of how our officers with the Prince George’s County Police Department are taking a vested interest in our communities,” District 5 Commander Maj. Jason Bogue said in a statement. “Hopefully our community partners will come out to support this important initiative.”
