Former Corrections Officer Indicted in Death Cover-Up

Anthony McIntosh was arrested Thursday morning in New York City.

A federal grand jury in Greenbelt has indicted former corrections officer Anthony McIntosh on three charges related to the in-custody death of a pretrial detainee.

Ronnie White died three years ago at the Prince George’s County Detention Center in Upper Marlboro.

According to the Department of Justice, McIntosh, 48, tried to cover up his involvement in White’s death. The FBI arrested McIntosh in New York City on Thursday.

McIntosh is charged with a federal civil rights violation for deprivation of rights under color of law, according to DOJ. In an indictment, McIntosh is stated to have found White in his cell, unresponsive and needing emergency care, but walked away without providing medical care or notifying colleagues of the emergency.

McIntosh is charged with two counts of destruction, alteration or falsification of records in a federal investigation. According to DOJ, he falsified an incident report and a witness statement regarding White’s in-custody death.

McIntosh faces life in prison for the civil rights offense and 20 years in prison on each count of falsification of records in a federal investigation. The maximum fine for each count is $250,000.
