Fire Department Conducting Smoke Alarm Checks

During the month of December, fire/EMS officials will go door-to-door in their respective communities to check smoke alarms.

According to the county fire department, Fire Chief Marc S. Bashoor has asked all personnel to perform additional community outreach efforts this month. This action comes on the heels of a fire that killed three people in Lewisdale last weekend.

Each fire/EMS station should spend at least two hours on Saturdays and Mondays during this month going door-to-door in their respective communities, according to the fire department.

Also, Fire/EMS crews will come to your home and make sure you have a working smoke alarm. Firefighters will provide free smoke alarms and fire safety information to as many homes as possible.
