Fire Causes Damage to Vacant Clinton Home

The fire caused "significant" damage to a vacant two-story home in Clinton, MD on New Year's Day.

It took firefighters an hour to extinguish the flames after a two-story family home in the 8200 block of Student Drive in Clinton, MD caught on fire New Year's Day.

Firefighters responded to the scene around 6:15 p.m. on Jan. 1 and on arrival saw the home in flames, including the roof, county fire spokesman Mark Brady said. The firefighters fought the blaze from outside the home, as the home was vacant and no residents were in harms way, Brady added.

It took firefighters 30 minutes to knock down most of the fire and another 30 minutes to complete extinguish the flames, he added.
