Double Fatal Accident Closes Central Avenue

At least two people were killed in an accident Monday that closed down both lanes of traffic on Central Avenue.

Update, 6:04 p.m.: The westbound lanes of Central Avenue have reopened. The eastbound lanes are still blocked east of Rt. 193.

Prince George’s County emergency responders are on the scene of a double fatal, multi-vehicle crash on Central Avenue that had closed both lanes of traffic in the area of Rt. 193 and Six Flags at about 3:30 p.m. 

There was one engine, one paramedic unit, three ambulances and two heavy duty rescue squads were on the scene for an extended extraction, according to fire department spokesperson Mark Brady.

Brady reported that there were two fatalities and said three individuals are being transported to the hospital with injuries—one with serious but not life threatening injuries and two with minor injuries. The cause of the accident is unknown at this time.
