District Heights Carjacker Sentenced to 25 Years in Prison

Trayonte McCrea could be paroled after five years.

A 21-year-old District Heights resident is going to prison for at least five years after a county jury found him guilty of armed carjacking, armed robbery, and first- and second-degree assault, among other charges.

One December morning, a 55-year-old man was warming up his car. That’s when Trayonte McCrea and another person approached the man, pulled out a shotgun and forced him out of the car. They took the man’s wallet, cell phone and car.

McCrea was sentenced to 25 years in prison, but could be paroled after five years.
