Update: 11:15 a.m.: The incident is clear and the building is open, according to and email issued by UMD's alert system.

Original story, 9:45 a.m.: Two people were injured in a flash fire on the roof of Oakland Hall, a residence hall on the University of Maryland, College Park campus on Monday morning, according to Prince George's County Fire Department officials.

Those inured were members of campus staff, who were working on an HVAC roof unit on top of the residence hall, according to a tweet by Mark Brady, a PGFD spokesperson. The incident occurred around 9 a.m. Monday.

Brady reported that injuries to one of the workers were serious, but not life-threatening. That person was reportedly transported to an area trauma center.

All fire is out at this time, Brady said.

UMD officials are asking that anyone in the area of Oakland Hall evacuate immediately and that no one attempt to enter the area until police and fire officials clear the scene.

Oakland Hall is a nine-story dormitory unit located in north campus. It is part of the Denton community. UMD students are on winter break until Jan. 27.
