2 Children Hospitalized Following Pit Bull Attack

The dog's owner, Drew Byron, has been arrested and is facing charges related to the incident.

Two children were hospitalized and a man was arrested following a pit bull attack in Prince George's County Monday.

According to Prince George's County Police, two children—ages 6 and 13—encountered the unleashed dog in the 11600 block of Cosca Park Drive in Clinton at around 5:15 p.m. Monday.

The boys ran from the dog. As the 6-year-old reached his house, the dog began biting him, according to police. The 13-year-old attempted to pull the dog off the younger child, and he was also bitten by the animal.

Neighbors intervened and were able to remove the dog from the area. A teenage girl that was reportedly with the dog left the scene before police arrived.

Both children were hospitalized with wounds to their faces and arms. They have since been released.

The dog's owner, 20-year-old Clinton resident Drew Byron, was arrested by police Tuesday afternoon. He is being charged with possession of unregistered pit bull terrier. Pit bull ownership is illegal in Prince George's County.

The dog is now in the custody of Prince George's County Animal Management.
