Article on Cars Sharing the Roads with Bicyclists
We wouldn't have this problem if Maryland (in particular, Prince George's County) would create walkable and bike(able) communities. There are no sidewalks and bike trails along major arteries that allow people to get out and exercise, relieving traffic from the roads. Specifically in the Southern tier of the count (District 9).
Woodyard Road, Marlboro Pike, Old Marlboro Pike, Branch Avenue, Suitland Parkway...all these arteries could benefit from having the ability to walk and bike to bus routes, subways, and retail. But they just don't exist. It is very dangerous to walk any of these arteries, for fear of being hit by a vehicle.
